SEE Opens in Philadelphia Suburbs, Offers “Hip Without the Rip” Approach to Fashion Eyewear
Voted “Best Eyewear” from coast to coast, SEE sells stylish eyewear without traditional markups
PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 23, 2013) – SEE, the nation’s largest optical retailer, has arrived in Philadelphia, bringing with it a “hip without the rip” mantra and a concept unlike anything else in the region – or the country, for that matter.
The new store – the company’s 31st – is in Suburban Square, the art deco outdoor shopping center along Philadelphia’s historic Main Line corridor. It is now open daily, offering customers a “gouge-free zone” with hundreds of trendy, stylish frames without steep mark-ups.
“Philadelphia has always been a smart, stylish city and we’ve had our eye on opening here for quite a while,” said SEE founder Richard Golden. “We arrived at an amazing time, too – the fashion scene is exploding, and you don’t have to just take my word for it. CNBC named Philly one of the top 10 cities for shopping. We’re in exciting company, but proud to be the first to offer so many fashion-forward frames at such affordable prices. You’ll want one in every color! And you can, without breaking the bank!”
From its inception 15 years ago, SEE has focused on making high-quality, high-design fashion eyewear available to everyone at a fraction of the cost compared to chain stores. Golden and his team work with the top designers around the world to create and manufacture SEE’s private collection of trendy, sophisticated eyewear – and each of its stores stocks a wide selection of hundreds of frames. There is literally something for everyone. But beyond the original designs, what really sets the brand apart is the pricing.
“Comparable eyewear at other stores around Philadelphia will cost $700, $800, $900,” explained Golden. “But at SEE, you can walk out with three pairs for that same $900 – and they’re each different. You can now afford to accessorize with your glasses. Different styles and colors for different outfits and moods.”
Shopping for those frames is also part of the unique SEE experience. Each store – Philadelphia included – features floor-to-ceiling shelves so that frames can be displayed out in the open. Shoppers are encouraged to play around and experiment without having to rely on salespeople to unlock doors and cabinets.
The new store is located in Suburban Square at 37 Coulter Avenue, Ardmore. It is the latest location for the rapidly-expanding company, and the first in the Philadelphia market, joining nearly three dozen other stores across the U.S. You’ll find SEE in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Chicago and Nashville, New York and Boston, making it the largest boutique optical retailer in the country.
Through SEE, shoppers across the country now have access to the frames touted by celebrity clients and national fashion media outlets. Voted “Best Eyewear” in major publications’ Readers’ Polls in fashionable cities from coast to coast, SEE has been featured in Vogue, InStyle, GQ, Marie Claire, Elle, O Magazine, WWD and countless other fashion magazines both nationally and internationally.
SEE (Selective Eyewear Elements) was conceived by Richard Golden, an optical pioneer, as a prototype optical boutique with the mission of changing the rules forever by making the purchase of “cool” eyewear a fashionably and economically correct experience. SEE’s collection is handpicked and made exclusively for the company by the top artisans in the world, allowing customers to enjoy fashion-forward styles at 1/3 to 1⁄2 of what they normally pay for comparable high quality, high fashion prescription and non-prescription eyewear. Each SEE boutique openly showcases the glasses, allowing shoppers to freely try on the extensive selection of unique, one of a kind frames.
SEE operates 31 stores nationally, including new stores in Minneapolis and Philadelphia with Seattle slated to open later this year. For more information, please visit www.seeeyewear.com or contact Susan Berryman at (248) 354-7100 ext. 498 (email@example.com).
